No, way.  SQ or GA usually gives very high price.  There are a lot of airlines that offer much much cheaper fare, such as Sempati (Indonesian private airlines), Silk Air (Singapore Airlines subsidiary), also some airlines like Cathay PAcific, China Airlines, and KLM. I just checked with my friend, he said he paid for S$250 for Singapore – Jakarta – Singapore using Cathay Pacific (Rate  US$ 1 about S$1.55). This price was for December 1993. Just find some travel agency in Singapore.  Some may give you slightly better price for some specific airlines. However, if you travel in June and July, you have to consider about school vacation in Indonesia.  Usually at the beginning and the end of the vacation, you will get a hard time to flight this route, since most of the flight usually full if not overbook. Last thing : Never buy your ticket directly from the airline.  It is very expensive since they will sell it to you using publish fare.  You may reserve a seat from the airline and tell them that you will issue your ticket in Singapore (give them the date of your arrival in Singapore).  The travel agents will sell you much much lower than the puclish fare. BTW, Sempati does not office in US. Silk Air probably you can ask Singapore, if you can make reservation through them.  The most major airlines usually have their 800 number. Edy Susilo — Edy Susilo

You might also want to try Sempati which is a private Indonesian airline. They have flights from Singapore to Jakarta and Bandung. They use jets too. Jim Zeek Network/Telcom Engineer EO, Inc
