Well, I think that the original poster wanted to know if HE could get the miles for his parents trip. I wouldn’t mind that. Every time my parents flew, I would get their miles as well. Unless your father (or mother) has the exact same name, though, they need to get their own accounts. One side note, though,is that awards are often transferable within famlies/people at the same address. For example, your parents (in getting 20,000 miles for the trip) would get two fly-write tickets each (on NW). They could be transfered to you. -Noah Cole — "Danger, I’ve been told to expect it." – Phish

I believe that British Airways allows family accounts, where the miles earned by family members can be combined. —

Hi, guys. My parents are going to visit us from China. Would I be able to buy them tickets from UAL or Northwest through my FF membership? Would those be counted as my milages? If I can’t, can I apply FF membership for my parents? They are not residents of USA. Any suggestions? Please e-mail me. Thanks. — "Spring is nice, isn’t it?"

^^^^^^^ To avoid trouble, I think the latest time that they can join will be when they are in the flight. They can give the flight attandent the application. Not all the airlines are willing to give you milage AFTER you’ve taken the flight. There must be flight attandent who speaks Chinese on board as the flight would be originated E. Asia. In fact, they can join the program in Asia. They offer similar awards: 20,000 miles for RT bewteen any two cities in Asia, e.g. HKG, NRT, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei, Bejing, etc.. Julia
