Heather, Congratulations on your find!  There are many reference books that have sketches of patterns grouped by manufacturer that you may want to check out–a high volume antique mall may have one they will let you search through.  Another option is to place several of the pieces (spoon, knife, fork) on a copy machine and "copy" the patterns (front and back).  Write down as much relevant information as you can (manufacturer, length of each piece, etc.)–and in your case maybe a photocopy of your certificate–and send it to Replacements, Ltd.  They will do the research and send you a price list for your new pattern. In general Replacements has a huge inventory–which is wonderful if you just broke Grandmother’s soup bowl and want a replacement ordered *now*–but if you need to fill in 7 dinner knives, 10 forks, and a tablespoon–it can get pricy.  (I have found their per piece price to be 0-60% higher than other matching services.)  I am in the same situation almost–I have some wonderful accessory pieces (fruit spoons, desssert forks and the larger serving pieces) for some 1920’s silverplate; I’ve been building the placesettings to go with it over the past few years, and I’ve collected a list of china/crystal/flatware matching services that you might want to check with once you have identified the pattern.  (I call to check in with them every 6-8 months.) Good luck! (And if anyone out there knows where I can pick up some Dolly Madison placesettings, please let me know!!) REPLACEMENTS, LTD. Response:

I just have a suggestion for anyone who wants a set of silver or silverplate flatware but is appalled by the current department store prices. I knew better than to even register for sterling but thought that at least silverplae might be a more affordable option. Imagine my surprise when it prived between $80-$150 per place setting! A few weeks ago I was browsing in an antique store when I happened across a set of silverplated flatware in a pattern I loved. It was in very good condition and thought it originally was a service for twelve, it was missing a few forks and teaspoons, making it into a service for ten which is what we registered for in our formal china pattern. (Which, incidentially, is "Festivity" by Wedgewood.) The price for the entire set in it’s original wood chest? $95! My grandmother purchased the set for me along with a silverplate coffee/tea service that is absolutely beautiful from the same store for only $85. I love that these pieces have a "history" and feel that they are a very meaningful gift from my grandmother. The flatware set was manufactured by Rogers-Onieda and the certificate of guarantee is dated 1941, though the name of the pattern is not listed. I’d like to try to find the missing pieces anlong with matching serving pieces. If anybody has any ideas/sources for this sort of thing please thanks!
